We have absolutely no choice in this, it is just how we made the game. Third, Finally, and MOST importantly: Huntdown is built in unity, so technically every version is a port of the PC version, so even if we WANTED to go completely out of our way to put Arcade Mode on consoles first, it would always be completed first in a PC environment, and then ported to other platforms. And it is easier to implement and test features on the version you are currently working on, than to completely halt development, and jump over to a console port version in order to implement a feature. The second reason: is that we were working on the Steam/Mobile versions when we conceived of the Arcade mode. Those that like the genre and the style will buy a game like this because they want to play it, not because it an extra mode added to it. nobody is going to be like "oh that game looks bad.OH WAIT, it has an Arcade mode?! Never-mind! I am totally gonna buy it" Having Arcade Mode on Steam and Mobile is negligible in terms of adding sales (and certainly doesn't maximize anything for us), as it is just an extra mode. That is literally the most fair way to do it. Instead each platform gets one plus, consoles (and Epic) got to play a year before everyone else, and Steam and Mobile got Arcade Mode before consoles. What it has to do with is three very specific things, and since I am feeling talkative, I'll tell you what they are:įirst: if we launched on consoles first, and then put Arcade Mode on consoles first also, we would clearly be giving preferential treatment to consoles. Or giving "new customers" preferential treatment over existing ones. What incentive does the two year customer have to stay with me when I'm giving the new customer the "feature" first?Īt the end of the day, it has absolutely nothing to do with "maximizing sales". ![]() It's like me being a salesman and giving a new customer something extra FIRST over a customer who has been with me for two years, etc. I know it's not intentional malice everything is based on maximizing sales in the business world, I just feel it'd be better morale to put any features added into the consoles first. I used "punishment" to get my point across more clearly. If I were to be a PC player right now (I'm older now, I only use consoles), I would've bought a console to buy this game. I've said previously that I prefer the PC to play games over console with the exception of fighting games. I still feel it'd be better to put the Arcade Mode on the console versions as a "Thanks for purchasing this game so fast " opposed to, "Thanks for waiting a year to purchase this." If I'm attracted enough to something, I'll go out of my way to purchase it. What’s that? Some of you just want the darn game? We can dig that too, so look forward to Switch and PS4 physical editions hitting store shelves in the very near future (don’t worry we slipped a few of the smaller goodies from the collectors edition in the regular physical edition too) ![]() ![]() We’ve teamed up with publisher Clear River Games, and Limited Run Games for the release of Huntdown’s physical Collector’s Edition.Īside from a physical edition of the game for PS4 or Switch, what the heckin heck do you get? Where to start!? A rad collectors box (with slip case), beautiful reversible poster, cloth patches for your fav gangs, the OST on Cassette, an Action Figure of the always badass John Sawyer, buttons, a game manual, and a 56 page Art book! Nope, we went bananas and made the kind of premium edition that we ourselves would die for! ![]() You read that right! We aren’t just putting the game on a disc/cart.
